The Challenge
Advancing Renewable Energy Across a Diverse Facility Network
As Sysco Corporation worked to fulfill its commitment to 100% renewable electricity and fleet electrification, the company faced the challenge of deploying clean energy solutions across a diverse network of facilities. With large distribution centers in both California and New York, Sysco needed a partner capable of delivering high-impact solar projects tailored to different site requirements and regional energy landscapes. The company sought to maximize energy production, reduce operational costs, and significantly lower its carbon footprint, all while ensuring seamless integration with ongoing business operations at multiple locations.

To help Sysco advance its renewable energy goals, PowerFlex delivered customized solar solutions at two major distribution centers — one in Sacramento, California, and another in Central Islip, New York. Together, these projects total 2.6 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity and are designed to maximize energy production for each site’s unique needs. The California installation features state-of-the-art ground-mounted solar tracking technology, while the New York facility utilizes a rooftop solar system. By leveraging regional incentive programs and integrating advanced monitoring, PowerFlex ensured that both sites operate efficiently and reliably. This multi-site approach enables Sysco to generate over 3.6 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually, supporting the company’s sustainability targets and operational efficiency.
