Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) Market
PowerFlex partnered with Preferred Freezer Services to design and install rooftop solar energy systems at multiple facilities in Illinois, California, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, totaling approximately 16,400 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity. These systems collectively generate more than 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually, providing substantial operational savings and reducing the company’s reliance on grid electricity. By leveraging state-specific Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) programs, Preferred Freezer was able to maximize the financial returns of its solar investments while significantly lowering electricity costs. PowerFlex’s expertise in system design and project financing ensured a seamless transition to solar, helping Preferred Freezer avoid more than 14 million pounds of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions each year and reinforcing its leadership in sustainable cold storage operations.
