Niagara Bottling Advances Sustainability With Onsite Solar Installation
Niagara Bottling, LLC is a leading bottled water supplier in the United States, recognized for its commitment to sustainability and innovation. Since its founding in 1963, the company has continually advanced its environmental initiatives, from introducing lightweight packaging to reducing material use in its Eco-Air Bottle and shipping practices. As part of its ongoing efforts to minimize its carbon footprint and promote responsible manufacturing, Niagara continues to invest in clean energy solutions that support both operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Implement Clean Energy
As one of the nation’s largest bottled water suppliers, Niagara Bottling operates facilities with significant energy demands. The company sought to further its sustainability leadership by integrating clean energy into its operations but needed a solution that could deliver meaningful environmental benefits without disrupting production or incurring exorbitant costs. Niagara required a partner who could design and implement a large-scale solar project that would maximize energy generation, reduce reliance on the grid, and provide a strong financial return — all while supporting the company’s ongoing commitment to minimizing its carbon footprint.

To help Niagara Bottling achieve its sustainability and operational goals, PowerFlex designed and installed a 1.2-megawatt (MW) rooftop solar system at the company’s Stockton, California facility. The system, comprised of 3,429 solar modules, is expected to generate approximately 1,777,734 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually, enough to power 175 homes each year. By utilizing a power purchase agreement (PPA), Niagara was able to implement the project with no upfront costs, ensuring immediate savings on electricity bills and reducing reliance on the grid. PowerFlex’s expertise in system optimization and project financing made it possible for Niagara to realize significant environmental benefits, including the avoidance of more than 1,676,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
