PowerFlex Installs 200+ Smart EV Chargers for City of Pasadena

Sitting 11 miles north of Los Angeles, Pasadena is probably best known for the famous Rose Bowl Stadium and annual Tournament of Roses parade. Incorporated in 1886, Pasadena originally rose to prominence around the turn of the century as a resort city, boasting numerous hotels. Pasadena is now home to more than 100,000 residents and lists NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Parsons Corporation, a global infrastructure company, as some of its top employers.

The Challenge

Meeting Growing Demand for EV Charging in Pasadena’s High-Traffic Districts

As electric vehicle adoption accelerated, the City of Pasadena faced the challenge of supporting its ambitious goal to cut carbon emissions in half by 2035. With more EVs on the road, the city needed to expand its public charging infrastructure to meet growing demand from both residents and visitors. Pasadena’s commitment to environmental impact mitigation and its offering of low electric rates for EV charging underscored the urgency to deploy additional charging stations across key locations, ensuring reliable access for the public and the city’s own electric fleet vehicles.
