Top Wholesale Distributor Offsets Onsite Electrical Consumption with Solar in CT

Bozzuto’s Goes Solar

Established in 1945, Bozzuto’s Inc. is a family-owned, leading wholesale distrib- utor of food and household products to retailers all over the United States. Bozzuto’s partnered with PowerFlex to take advantage of their rooftop and the compelling Connecticut solar incentives available for their facility in Cheshire, Connecticut.

Solar Photovoltaic System Specifications & Environmental Benefits

Bozzuto’s solar photovoltaic system has a total capacity of 1,306 kW and is comprised of 4,284 305W modules atop Bozzuto’s distribution center. The fully ballasted system has no roof penetrating attachments and offsets a portion of the onsite total energy consumption. The clean energy produced by the system has the envi- ronmental benefit equivalent to taking 227 cars off the road annually or planting almost 28,000 trees.

Significant Financial Returns through Solar

Bozzuto’s was able to take advantage of several federal and state level solar incentives including a federal 30% investment tax credit and the MACRS 5-year accelerated depreciation incentive, which allows for a tax deduction to recover costs over the life of the property.

Bozzuto’s was also able to benefit from Connecticut state incentives, including no sales tax on solar proj- ects and the Connecticut Zero Emission Renewable Energy Credit (ZREC) program. The ZREC program provides solar project owners an attractive fixed price for all the environmental attributes produced during the project’s initial 15 years.
