PowerFlex and Stewart’s Shops Corporation were honored that the recently completed Stewart’s solar photovoltaic project was nominated as a finalist for The Business Council’s Environmental Committee Chairman's Award. The Environmental Committee Chairman’s Award is intended to recognize a specific project developed by an individual, organization, or business which demonstrated a notable contribution in conserving resources, protecting and enhancing our environment, or developing innovate approaches to environmental challenges.Nancy Trimbur, SVP of Stewart’s Shops, and Peyton Boswell, Director of PowerFlex, presented an overview of the large-scale solar project last week during The Business Council’s 2013 Annual Industry-Environment Conference. The discussion focused on both the environmental and financial benefits of the renewable energy project. The other Chairman’s Award finalists included Ecology & Environment, Inc.’s “Cleaner, Greener Communities Regional Sustainability Plans”, the West Brook Conservation Initiative, and the Buffalo River Restoration Project (which was the ultimate and well-deserved winner of the 2013 Chairman’s Award). We were quite impressed with all of the other finalists’ projects, and delighted to see such recognition given to these important environmental accomplishments.
