PowerFlex Adds Alpitronic’s HYC400 Hypercharger to Its DC Fast Charging Network

Alpitronic’s modular, high-efficiency HYC400 Hypercharger is now available on the PowerFlex network, bringing a reliability-first approach to DC Fast Charging across commercial and fleet sites.

PowerFlex offers only the most capable EV charging hardware from the most future-forward partners. That’s why we’ve onboarded the HYC400 Hypercharger by Alpitronic onto the PowerFlex network. Energy-efficient and operationally reliable, the high-performance Hypercharger is well suited for commercial properties, fleet depots, and other sites that require a dependable fast-charging option. Here’s more about the charger and our wider partnership with Alpitronic.

Get to Know the HYC400 Hypercharger

The HYC400 is a modular DC Fast Charger configurable from 100 kW up to 400 kW. This “Power-Stack” architecture acts as a future-proofing function, allowing a site operator to scale capacity incrementally as power needs evolve, without requiring full hardware replacement. The unit boasts 97.5% energy efficiency, ensuring that more of the power it draws from the grid ends up in the vehicle’s battery.

From a driver’s perspective, the Hypercharger is extremely accommodating and user-friendly. It can charge up to four EVs with up to 1,200 A concurrent delivery across connectors — increasing onsite port availability and reducing user frustration. What’s more, the HYC400 is incredibly quiet even when multiple vehicles are drawing energy, emitting less than 52 dBA of noise in standard environmental conditions.

A Complementary Partnership

The partnership between PowerFlex and Alpitronic is a strong, proven pairing where the need for dependable EV charging is tackled from complementary angles — providing a more complete solution for site operators and a better charging experience for drivers.

Reliable Hardware Backed by Smart Software

Alpitronic has delivered 7.6 terawatt-hours of energy to date, completing more than 252 million charging sessions across 131,000+ charging points in 62 countries. The company boasts 99% system uptime — living up to its tagline of “charging must always work.”

As the largest hardware-agnostic EV charging provider in the United States with more than 70,000 ports currently under management, PowerFlex is poised to support Alpitronic’s dedication to reliability. The PowerFlex X™ software platform allows customers to monitor charger operations across an entire portfolio and perform remote troubleshooting, hard and soft resets, and firmware updates that preserve uptime.

Two-Tiered Load Management

PowerFlex X uses patented Adaptive Load Management® (ALM) technology to distribute power to active chargers in real-time based on capacity constraints, time-of-use cycles, driver needs, and other factors. This prevents consumption spikes that can cause power overloads and expensive utility charges for site owners.

While ALM balances power across chargers, Alpitronic’s dynamic load management balances power within a charger’s Power-Stack architecture in 50 kW increments. This significantly boosts flexibility and enables more efficient distribution of energy among vehicles actively charging on the unit.

Intelligent Energy Optimization

Besides managing EV charging loads, PowerFlex X is also an advanced energy management system capable of co-optimizing Alpitronic EV charging hardware with other clean technologies such as solar arrays and battery energy storage. Coordinating onsite assets together instead of in silos can reduce peak demand charges and improve the overall energy economics of a deployment. The HYC400’s native OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 support ensures standardized communication between the charger and the PowerFlex platform, creating an integrated, cost-effective system.

Building a Large Fast-Charging Footprint Across North America

Alpitronic Americas is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is actively expanding its production presence in North America, where PowerFlex has deployed charging solutions across more than 20 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. For site operators and fleet managers procuring infrastructure that will be in the field for a decade or more, supplier proximity and domestic support capacity matter. With their joint U.S. presence, Alpitronic and PowerFlex are ensuring that communication lines as well as supply chains remain reliably open.
