Medline Announces New Commercial Solar Installation in Grayslake, Illinois

Latest investment in solar energy a continuation of Medline’s commitment to sustainability initiatives

Grayslake, Ill., July 9, 2025 Medline, the largest provider of medical-surgical products and supply chain solutions serving all points of care, and PowerFlex, a clean-technology solutions company focused on making transformations to carbon-free electrification and transportation possible, today announced plans for a new 5.2-megawatt solar installation at Medline’s flagship distribution center in Grayslake, Ill. The investment will include more than 11,500 solar panels and is expected to produce 5.9 gigawatt hours of energy per year.

“Medline continues to build a more sustainable business by investing in solar technology,” said Judy Panayos, Medline’s director of environmental sustainability. “Solar energy is just one part of a broader sustainability strategy to decarbonize our operations.”

The Grayslake project is Medline’s 12th solar installation project overall, adding to more than 66,000 solar panels already installed at Medline facilities across the globe.

"Our long-standing partnership with Medline on solar projects across the country shows how clean energy can make a real difference for both the environment and the bottom line,” said PowerFlex CEO Raphael Declercq. “The new Grayslake installation will help Medline lower its carbon footprint and reduce energy costs for years to come. We’re glad to support Medline’s efforts to run their operations more sustainably and efficiently.”

The Grayslake distribution center opened in 2022 and has a team of more than 850 employees. The 1.4 million-square-foot facility services healthcare providers throughout the region and uses the latest automation technology.

“Medline’s latest investment exemplifies how the Grayslake community is a great place to do business in a sustainable manner,” said Elizabeth Davies, mayor of Grayslake.
