Intern, Hardware

The Hardware Engineering Intern will test and certify all hardware devices related to the PowerFlex large scale EV charging solution including communications boards, embedded computers, and VPN routers. The Hardware Engineering Intern will work with other Senior Engineers to select and optimize hardware components, evaluate COTS devices for use in our product, assemble and test finished devices. The idea candidate should have enthusiasm for learning the state of art communications and computing hardware.

Scope of Job:

The Grid Edge Valuation Analyst will play a key role in developing solar, storage, and microgrid projects within the Distributed Solutions business unit, which focuses on behind-the-meter projects for C&I customers and mid-sized distribution-level front of the meter projects. The analyst will simulate battery storage projects using EDF Renewables’ proprietary modeling tool, build solar and storage financial models, and prepare internal pricing committee presentations and client-facing proposals. EV Product Owner

Responsibilities:

25% Vision and Roadmap: Clearly understand the vision for the product and assisting in defining that vision if it is not clear to ensure that the right product is built. Ensure the product vision is clearly communicated to the delivery team and understood by the team. Understand the various users of the product, including other systems that may consume the product, in order to ensure that they are building a product that provides value to the users. Maintain the product roadmap, with upcoming short-term and long-term goals, and communicate the roadmap to the delivery team and stakeholders.
25% Software Team Facilitation: Set expectations for the software team. Negotiate with stakeholders and delivery teams to prioritize work in the backlog and help maximize the value the team delivers. Contracts Manager

We are seeking a Contracts Manager to work with Counsel to support PowerFlex’s growth. You will partner with numerous functions within the company, including Accounting, Implementation, Treasury, Sales, IT and Engineering and be involved in all phases of sell-side and some phases of buy-side contracting for the company.

Responsibilities:

95% – Contracts

Negotiate terms and conditions of goods and services sales and purchasing contracts, both on company and customer paper, in a fast-paced environment.
Ensure legal and business risks are identified and suggest how they may be mitigated.
Escalate legal issues as necessary to Counsel, follow through on such escalations, as well as handle questions on miscellaneous matters and coordinate with Counsel on general customer questions/requests.

Senior Project Engineer

The Senior Project Engineer is a key member of the project Distributed Solutions Grid Edge implementation team. The Sr. Project Engineer will support the Project Managers and provide planning, budgeting, technical support, and supervision related to the business and project development process of commercial solar PV, Storage, & microgrid projects. This position works at company office and travels to job sites. The Project Engineer will support the following functions: health and safety, quality control, design review & engineering, estimating and budget preparation, purchasing and contract administration, construction management, and general project administration.

Responsibilities:

25% Support tasks related to management of subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
5% Support management of on-site construction of solar PV, storage & microgrid projects to conform to the design and contract documents and the national and local building codes including the National Electric Code and IEEE 1547 (CA Rule 21)
5% Support, plan, schedule, and execute the construction of projects to meet project schedules. Assist the Project Managers in developing and tracking the project schedule and confirm the availability of material to maintain the schedule.
5% Provide management support for the design of the projects including management of outside consultant disciplines such as surveying, civil, environmental, landscaping, geotechnical, structural, and electrical.
5% Support the Sr. Project Manager in the preparation of the EPC construction budget. Participate as requested in budget review meetings with senior management.
5% Support Project Manager directives and assignments related to quality control, commissioning, and completion.
5% Support safe work practices including OSHA standards, company safety programs, and policies relative to the installation of these systems. The Product Owner will represent, and be closely connected to, the internal customer in the solution development process and prioritize initiatives based on value to the business. Although not explicitly a software development role, the Product Owner will champion agile practices and concepts and work to transform internal stakeholders to adopt agile practices and culture.

Responsibilities:

50% Product Management
• Ensure the customer gets a working product that makes their work-lives easier and better. Work with stakeholders to define the vision and strategic value of product. Create and maintain a clear, visual, and accessible product roadmap incorporating all high-level initiatives and use it to facilitate strategic conversations with various stakeholders. Advocate for user centricity by working with internal stakeholders to conduct research, testing, and experimentation. Create user stories that are prioritized, have clear acceptance criteria, and have been estimated for Business Value (Impact) and Complexity (Effort). Set clear and appropriate Sprint Goals that roll up to strategic BU goals. Ensure goals and metrics have been set and are maintained for desirability, feasibility, and viability. Establish clear production ready criteria and repeatable processes for releases. Create and maintain a Release Plan with upcoming features and release dates that considers the schedule of target users and supporting technology teams. Create a cohesive rollout and adoption strategy, working closely with L&D, communications, and OCM, that regularly incorporates updates based on new knowledge. Maintain regular touchpoints with business stakeholders. Ability to exercise good judgment in the event certain security policies or procedures are not well defined. Educates business stakeholders on Digital and IT strategy. Actively escalate impediments as they arise up through Digital Business Leadership and Technical IT leadership
40% Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement
• Cultivate a healthy team by encouraging safety and trust to contribute to an environment where good decisions can happen quickly in a decentralized way. Facilitate team and stakeholder engagement, encouraging diversity of perspectives and establishing a shared context where the best decisions can happen quickly. Follow EDFR’s Agile principles and guidelines including participation in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other key ceremonies. Act as a liaison with members of the cybersecurity team to help them understand the requirements for the product and communicate the proposed security controls back to the business.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience –
• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree with emphasis on IT or Business disciplines or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of technical and/or business relationship experience.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities –
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills with proven ability to interact effectively with technology partners, functional teams and business stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills and ability to navigate a business environment that is complex, ambiguous, and diverse.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit or stand at computer for a reasonable length of time typing and reading. Regularly required to walk or stand. 100% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment.

Working Conditions:

80% of time is spent in the office environment. 20% of time is spent outside of the office comprised of national and international travel for meetings and collaboration with global counterparts, as well as travel to conferences and trade shows to understand new and emerging technologies and changes to the renewable energy industry.

We are seeking a Risk Manager to support Powerflex’s growth. You’ll partner with numerous organizations within the company, including Legal, Accounting, Project Management, and Sales to establish, implement and manage the company’s insurance portfolio and develop and execute procedures.

95% – Insurance and Risk Management:

Analyze insurance needs by identifying operational, contractual and legal requirements, risk exposures and classifying them to optimize coverage and costs
Establish, implement and manage Powerflex’s corporate insurance programs and policies through brokers and directly with insurance carriers
Develop best practices specific to electrical vehicle charging, solar and storage projects
Manage renewals and applications processes
Obtain COIs on a daily basis pursuant to sales contract requirements
Review and revise insurance provisions in sales and purchasing contracts
Clearly explain insurance programs, policies and procedures to internal stakeholders
Develop policies and procedures to meet the organization’s objectives, needs, and regulatory body requirements
Create presentations and implement risk management policies to reduce company wide exposure

Qualifications:

Education/Experience –

Bachelor’s degree or higher
5+ years experience with corporate insurance implementation and management.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities –

Passion and deep interest in learning and mastering concepts in renewable energy, EV charging
Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete tasks efficiently
Self-starter who can complete tasks and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
Competent knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams
Ability to work collaboratively with others

Working Conditions:

Primarily office working environment, but rare field visits will be needed which requires standing, walking, and able to document/measure existing conditions. Otherwise, normal office environment. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
