Arizona Businesses: Tap Salt River Project EV Charging Incentive for Up to $300,000 in Rebates

Unlock significant savings on EV charging installations for your Arizona business with SRP's lucrative rebate program, designed to offset costs for Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers.

There are substantial benefits to installing EV charging stations on your commercial property, including increased real estate value, happier customers and employees, and improved sustainability. If you’re located in Arizona’s Salt River Project (SRP) service territory, there’s a timely opportunity to offset a substantial portion of your project costs.

SRP’s business EV charging rebates can help fund Level 2 (L2) and DC Fast Charging (DCFC) installations at commercial properties, with total awards up to $300,000 per customer each fiscal year.

About the Program

SRP’s EV charging program is a utility rebate designed to lower the upfront cost of installing L2 and DCFC equipment. Projects must be installed by April 30, 2026 and completed rebate applications are due to SRP by October 31, 2026.

Awards are capped at $300,000 per customer per fiscal year, with a site-level limit of 40 L2 ports per location. Because funds are distributed on a first come, first served basis and awarded within a defined program year, early planning and timely applications are critical.

SRP rebates are stackable, meaning they can be combined with funds awarded by other incentive programs to further offset installation costs.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must be non-residential SRP electric customers in good standing with sites located within SRP’s service area. All non-residential customer types are eligible, and SRP prioritizes several segments that qualify to receive additional funds:

  • Multifamily properties
  • New construction projects
  • Government entities
  • Tribal organizations
  • Schools
  • Nonprofit organizations

Timing is important. As mentioned, eligible L2 or DCFC chargers must be purchased and installed by April 30, 2026. Customers with rebate requests under $15,000 can apply for a rebate after installation. For rebate requests over $15,000, SRP requires pre-approval before installation begins.

SRP will also expect standard documentation with your DCFC rebate application, such as invoices that show payment dates and equipment details (like the model and serial numbers) and charger network provider information.

Funding Structure

SRP’s funding structure is divided into two tracks: Level 2 and DCFC. Each track has separate funding schedules for general business and priority segments.

Level 2

Both general business and priority segments are subject to the aforementioned 40-port limit per installation site for Level 2 equipment. General business qualifies to receive up to 75% of the total project cost while priority segments qualify for up to 100%.

  • General Business: $2,500 per L2 port
  • Priority Segments: $3,500 per L2 port

Additionally, SRP offers a Level 2 pre-wiring incentive, awarding $300 per circuit for a new construction project or $500 per circuit for a retrofit ($15,000 cap). This can be a cost-effective way to prepare for near-term or phased charger deployments, and can significantly reduce future installation costs.

DCFC

For DC Fast Charging, rebate amounts scale by project size and customer segment, with a maximum of 75% of total project cost covered for general business and up to 100% for priority segments.

  • General Business:
    • 1–4 Chargers: $20,000 per location
    • 5+ Chargers: $40,000 per location
  • Priority Segments:
    • 1–4 Chargers: $25,000 per location
    • 5+ Chargers: $45,000 per location

SRP requires eligible DCFC stations to supply at least 50 kilowatts (kW) to qualify under the DCFC rebate; stations under 50 kW may be considered under the L2 category.
