By leveraging a mix of project financial structures — including direct ownership, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and site/host leases — PowerFlex tailored each installation to the specific needs and goals of each location. The projects took advantage of a variety of state and local incentive programs, such as ZREC, SMART, TREC, and NYSERDA, to maximize financial returns. This scalable, multi-state approach enabled BJ’s to significantly reduce its energy expenditure, increase store profitability, and achieve substantial tax benefits while advancing its sustainability leadership.
