Netflix Accelerates Workplace EV Charging With PowerFlex
Netflix is a leading global entertainment company known for streaming award-winning TV series, films, and documentaries to hundreds of millions of members worldwide. With major offices in Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Burbank, Netflix operates at the center of the media and production ecosystem. The company has publicly stated sustainability ambitions, including reducing emissions across its operations and value chain and supporting a cleaner transition for employees and productions. Expanding workplace EV charging aligns with Netflix’s broader environmental goals by enabling low-carbon commuting and supporting the growing number of employees driving electric.
Increase EV Charging Access Across Multiple Campuses While Controlling Costs
Netflix’s Southern California workforce is spread across multiple campuses where parking demand is high and the adoption of electric vehicles is accelerating. The company needed a scalable EV charging solution that could provide reliable access to charging at several locations without overloading site electrical infrastructure. At the same time, Netflix sought to minimize capital outlay by leveraging available state and local incentives, while ensuring a consistent, user-friendly experience for both employees and facilities teams.

INCENTIVES
LADWP EV Charger Rebate • CALeVIP
PowerFlex partnered with Netflix to design and deploy a coordinated, multi-site Level 2 charging program across 6 Southern California campuses, ultimately delivering 203 networked chargers in Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Burbank. To ensure the infrastructure matched actual needs, PowerFlex right-sized and distributed the charging capacity across each campus, placing the ports strategically to balance availability, utilization, and electrical capacity.
To optimize power usage and avoid costly electrical upgrades, the chargers are networked with PowerFlex’s patented Adaptive Load Management® that dynamically allocates power, reduces peak demand, and allows more drivers to charge simultaneously. Centralized monitoring, usage reporting, and access controls using the PowerFlex X™ energy optimization platform gives Netflix’s teams clear visibility into charging activity.
PowerFlex also developed and executed an incentive strategy that secured more than $110,000 in public funding through CALeVIP and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) programs. By managing the end-to-end application, documentation, and compliance process, PowerFlex accelerated funding and reduced the total cost of ownership for Netflix.
